Are You a “shepherd” of Israel?
I am addressing this issue at the onset to clear up a common misconception in the Church. Primarily, it is Dispensational church doctrine that makes Christians think they aren’t “shepherds of Israel.”
Let’s clear that up right now!
Question: Is there an Olive Tree of God/Olive Tree of Israel? (Whichever you prefer to call it!).
Answer: Yes! Romans 11.
• Israel is the “natural” branches. Some have been always on the Tree (Paul etc.). Most have been broken-off. Their descendants can be, and will be, grafted back-in if they don’t continue in unbelief.
• The Nations are the “wild” branches that are not natural to the tree, and must be
grafted in contrary to their nature if and when they come to faith in Christ.
Question: Are you, (as a Christian, pastor, teacher, lay person, etc.), part of that Tree?
Answer: Yes! You are! You are either a “natural” branch, or you are a “wild” branch.
You may not know which one you are; but you’re in the Tree. Therefore, if you are teaching, instructing, pastoring people in that Tree, you are shepherds of Israel whether you want to be or not ! You are part of Israel if you have faith in the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob — and that is JESUS CHRIST/YESHUA HAMASHIACH!
Are there “Church Scribes” and “Church Pharisees” in the Modern-day Ekklesia?
On this page, I will post content specifically for those who consider themselves “undershepherds” of The Shepherd. This has always been an important issue in Scripture. From Ezekiel to Yeshua.
Jeremiah 23:1 “Woe to the shepherds who destroy and scatter the sheep of My pasture!” says the LORD.
Ezekiel 34:2 “Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel, prophesy, and say unto them, thus saith the Lord GOD unto the shepherds; woe be to the shepherds of Israel that do feed themselves! Should not the shepherds feed the flocks?“
Zechariah 11:14-17 Then I cut in two my other staff, Bonds, that I might break the brotherhood between Judah and Israel. And the LORD said to me, “Next, take for yourself the implements of a foolish shepherd. For indeed I will raise up a shepherd in the land who will not care for those who are cut off, nor seek the young, nor heal those that are broken, nor feed those that still stand. But he will eat the flesh of the fat and tear their hooves in pieces. Woe to the worthless shepherd, who leaves the flock! A sword shall be against his arm and against his right eye; his arm shall completely wither, and his right eye shall be totally blinded.”
The Church is still killing the testimony of Moses and the Prophets and practically persecuting anyone who respects the Commandments of the Lord. The modern Church attacks anyone who believes apart from their Church “doctrine” concerning the setting-aside of Israel, or the fact that the Law was not abolished–only fulfilled according to the promise of redemption.
According to Matthew and the rest of the Gospel writers, Yeshua had a major problem with the shepherds of Israel.
Matthew 23:13 “But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut up the kingdom of heaven against men; for you neither go in yourselves, nor do you allow those who are entering to go in.
Matthew 23:14 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you devour widows’ houses, and for a pretense make long prayers. Therefore you will receive greater condemnation.
Matthew 23:15 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel land and sea to win one proselyte, and when he is won, you make him twice as much a son of hell as yourselves.
Matthew 23:16 “Woe to you, blind guides, who say, ‘Whoever swears by the temple, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gold of the temple, he is obliged to perform it.’
Matthew 23:23 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faith. These you ought to have done, without leaving the others undone.
Matthew 23:25 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you cleanse the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of extortion and self-indulgence.
Matthew 23:27 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness.
Matthew 23:29-31 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because you build the tombs of the prophets and adorn the monuments of the righteous, and say, ‘If we had lived in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.’ “Therefore you are witnesses against yourselves that you are sons of those who murdered the prophets.
The “Church” now has that responsibility, and they neglect and abuse the privilege. They don’t shepherd “Israel”–they don’t even consider “Israel.” They either replace them, or set Israel aside for God to deal with later. They don’t mind being “grafted-in” to Israel’s Olive Tree, but they could care less about the “natural branches.” In fact, they boast against them.
(Romans 11:13-21) For I speak to you Gentiles; inasmuch as I am an apostle to the Gentiles, I magnify my ministry, if by any means I may provoke to jealousy those who are my flesh and save some of them. For if their being cast away [rejected/lost] is the reconciling of the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead? For if the firstfruit is holy, the lump is also holy; and if the root is holy, so are the branches. And if some of the branches were broken off, and you, being a wild olive tree, were grafted in among them, and with them became a partaker of the root and fatness of the olive tree, do not boast against the branches. But if you do boast, remember that you do not support the root, but the root supports you. You will say then, “Branches were broken off that I might be grafted in.” Well said. Because of unbelief they were broken off, and you stand by faith. Do not be haughty, but fear. For if God did not spare the natural branches, He may not spare you either. Therefore consider the goodness and severity of God: on those who fell, severity; but toward you, goodness, if you continue in His goodness. Otherwise you also will be cut off. And they also, if they do not continue in unbelief, will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again. For if you were cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and were grafted contrary to nature into a cultivated olive tree, how much more will these, who are natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree? For I do not desire, brethren, that you should be ignorant of this mystery, lest you should be wise in your own opinion, that blindness in part has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in. And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written: “The Deliverer will come out of Zion, And He will turn away ungodliness from Jacob; for this is My covenant with them, When I take away their sins.” (NKJV)
“Into their own olive tree!”
The Olive Tree is Israel’s, it does not belong to a man-made church. If you are not part of Israel’s Tree (the Ekklesia of Jesus Christ), then you are the ones preaching a different gospel. There is only one “Church/Ekklesia.”
